Leaving the Past, and Stepping Into Your Future!

How to say goodbye to your neighbours

There's an art to goodbyes. ‘Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending'- Lazarus Long. (Science fiction character) And he's right. Not done properly, your parting moment from your old neighbourhood could leave your neighbours upset and forgotten.

Say it like you mean it

Saying proper goodbyes is an important part of the Moving process, and should not be ignored. The good news is that it doesn't require any physical strain, or stress, just a friendly smile and a warm handshake will do the trick, and it will make you and you neighbours feel warm and fuzzy.

Make a list

First, make a small list of all the people you want to say goodbye to, of course do not include people you have had unpleasant interactions with, or people you haven't even spoken to before. Keep it short and sweet, let the people you care about know exactly that.

Give away unwanted items

If you have any practical items you do not intend to take to your new home, offer any items you're leaving behind to some of your favorite neighbours. If not, ask them if they know of anyone in the area who could enjoy them. If you're having a garage sale, suggest to certain neighbours that they might want to get involved, it's a great way to get rid of what you don't need and say goodbye to your belongings and neighbours all in one go!
