Our founder and owner, James Russell, started this business with just one single and clear goal: To revolutionise the local moving business and experience. He spent a lot of time studying the way other local removalists worked and saw a lot of room for improvement.
Established in 1998, Citymove has become one of the largest and most recognisable removals firms in Australia. Starting in Sydney with just one truck, we now have over 30 trucks across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, and Perth.
We were the first company to charge in half-hourly increments before breaking the trend and charging by the minute, thus only paying for the time you use.
Our “Men in Pink” have gained a reputation for being fast, fit, and efficient. Our hard-working moving professionals have enabled us to help over 10,000 Australians relocate per year.
Celebrating our 17th year, we continue to move people and our innovative products are constantly evolving to suit our clients’ needs.

Pillar 1 – Price
We get it. Moving house is expensive. That’s why we’ve done our best to keep prices low. Unlike most local removalists, we charge by the minute, after the first two hours. That means you pay for the work we do, and nothing else.
Pillar 2 – Punctuality
It’s a simple enough concept: When you get a removalist quote you have to tell the company when you need to be out and when you need to be in. A lot of companies take those data points more as guidelines. At Citymove we know that on moving day your entire life centres on one thing: The local removalists showing up on time. If we’re late, everything falls apart. When it comes to local moving, we’ve got it covered: With more than 30 trucks in service and an army of fit, trained removalists at our command, we are always on time.
Pillar 3 – Certification
When you need local removals, you want people who have all the necessary training and certifications – and that goes beyond simply training workers how to lift with their legs and wrap up delicate goods. It also means being trained in the right way to treat people and the world we live in respectfully, professionally and with a smile. To that end we are:

- AFRA accredited. AFRA regulates the furniture removals industry. Only accredited members have demonstrated the necessary equipment, vehicles, premises and staff training needed to complete a professional move.
Pillar 4 – Everything Else
Moving is stressful, and too many companies give you just the bare bones. We aim to be not just your removalists of choice, we want to offer you a full spectrum of services you might not even think of at the time. This includes house cleaning, packing & unpacking assistance, and utility connections.
