If the Removalists are not up to your expectations within the first 20 minutes of operation, you may politely inform the move operator that they were not what you were expecting, and that you would prefer to be moved by someone else or cancel the appointment.

Citymove can offer this as it so rarely happens. The move operator will call Head Office to assist you with your request. There is no obligation by the client or the movers to continue your move if he or she is unwilling to.

This is why we have an introduction period. There is no cancellation fee for local moves and no reason needed. Head office will also give you a second alternative team at your request as we understand that you have to move that day. It’s your choice.

We offer only a 50% refund on interstate moves as the truck will be running empty if you cancel. We will offer you an alternative crew if the Removalist is not up to your expectations in the first 20 minutes of operation free of charge.

In the instance of a cancellation the mover operator will be instructed to return all the property back to its original position graciously as directed from the office.

Standard Relocation Team:
The standard Citymove relocation team consists of 2 Men and 4.490 GVM tonne truck (unless otherwise specified) and relocation equipment. This truck has a capacity holds approx 17-20 cubic meters of furniture. If you are unsure of the amount of furniture you have,  fill out the Citymove space calculator. This will give you a good indication of the cubic meter age your household consists of. If you think you may need a larger truck please contact Citymove for the best advice for you relocation requirements. Larger truck upgrades are available.

Moving Timeslots:
There are 3 main moving timeslots available for your Relocation. The morning timeslot has a definite start time of 7.30am. The Midday timeslot generally start between 11am and 2pm. The afternoon timeslot generally start between 2:30pm and 5:30pm.. Due to the nature of the job, the midday and afternoon timeslots are not definite start times and occasionally run a little earlier or late. For your convenience the midday and afternoon timeslots are given a ½ hour approach call to inform you of when the truck and men are on the way to the job.

 “We Break it, We fix it“ Guarantee

Only items prepared with recommended preventative wrapping materials by a Citymove removalist or authorised representative (hence referred to as "Citymove") are covered by a "We Break it, We Fix it" Guarantee.  Any of these such items found to be damaged during the course of the move must be identified and disclosed to the removalists before completion of job.  Items must then immediately be removed from the premises by Citymove for repair.  Guarantee will be Null and Void if items are not disclosed prior to sign-off, are not wrapped as recommended, or have not been proven in working order prior to relocation.  Acceptance, individually by item, of recommended preventative wrapping will be identified by a label marked GUARANTEED.  Items not carrying this identification cannot be included in this guarantee.

Optional Full Breakage and handling insurance is a separate policy taken out by you, the owner, directly with an independent insurance broker. This insurance will cover your goods at a value determined between you and the broker and is kept at arms length. Recommended actions to reduce your household’s carbon footprint.

Heating.


Put on a jersey and socks when you feel cold – it’s you that wants to feel warm not the furniture.

Install a solar hot water system. Your hot water system is accountable for 40 to 60% of your electricity bill.

Reduce hot water use by installing efficient showerheads, fixing leaky taps and wash your clothes in cold water. There are washing machines and washing powders that work best with cold water. Most ‘worn-once’ or lightly soiled clothes will be adequately cleaned in a cold wash.

Install ceiling insulation. Without ceiling insulation you could be losing as much as 15% of your heating costs through the roof. Ceiling insulation acts as a blanket, trapping heat rising from the house below. If you are replacing your window frames, install double glazing. Double glazing works by trapping air in between two panes of glass creating an insulating barrier that reduces heat loss, noise and condensation. Double glazing cuts heat lost through normal glass by half.

Use passive solar design techniques to heat and cool your home naturally e.g. ensure your home is north-facing, that all windows and doors are sealed properly, that you have cross-winds and sufficient ventilation to avoid the need for fans/air conditioning etc.


Lighting.

Switch to energy efficient light bulbs – these are available at most retailers.

Energy efficient light bulbs also cope better with sudden power failure or spiking. While they cost more than incandescent light bulbs, they last longer and you will save energy and cut your electricity bills. Switch off any lights that are not needed.


Appliances.

Upgrade to energy efficient appliances throughout your home. If your appliance was bought before 2005 the chances are that it will not be as energy efficient as newer models.

Fill your kettle with only as much water as you need. Boiling more water than you need wastes energy and time.

Appliances with pilot lights should be switched off at the wall socket.


Waste. Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.

Throwing things away is a waste of the energy and the resources taken to make the product. Reducing the number of things that need to be thrown away, reduces the amount of materials which have to be quarried and mined.

Reduce how much you buy – buy good quality products that will last to reduce manufacturing emissions or simply buy less. Avoid buying products with excessive packaging. Consider how items could be re-used before passing them on as recycling or waste. Recycle as much waste as possible because recycling takes less energy than producing new products from virgin materials. You will find a range of local recycling initiatives listed on our website – these provide drop-off or sometimes collection services. Lobby your local municipality to make recycling convenient by providing collection services in every area.


Transport.

For local travel consider leaving the car at home and either walk, cycle or use public transport. Keep your vehicle properly serviced. Check tyre pressure at least once a fortnight. Avoid carrying unnecessary weight in the boot. Plan your journeys, so you don't get lost and waste fuel. Try to avoid traffic. Switch the engine off if you think you are likely to be stationary for more than 2 minutes. Try to avoid sudden acceleration, engine revving, and sudden braking - harsh accelerating and braking can use up to 30% more fuel and increase wear and tear of the vehicle. Avoid using air conditioning, as this uses more fuel. Drive with the windows closed, as this reduces drag on the vehicle. When replacing your car, look for the most carbon efficient (i.e. with a low gCO2/km) or with a high mpg.
